About MedSchool Copilot
What We Do
MedSchool Copilot is an AI-powered platform that helps pre-med students build stronger medical school applications. We combine structured workflow tools, guided writing support, and admissions strategy into one system that covers the full application cycle: from AMCAS primary through secondaries, interviews, and acceptance decisions.
Our blog is where we publish the tactical guidance that applicants actually need. Not generic motivation. Not vague advice. Specific, actionable content about personal statements, Work & Activities descriptions, school list strategy, secondary essays, interview preparation, and everything in between.
How the Platform Works
The application process has dozens of moving parts: 15 AMCAS activity entries, a 5,300-character personal statement, 20+ secondary essays, letters of recommendation, school-specific research, and deadlines that compound across months. Most applicants try to manage all of this with a spreadsheet and willpower. We built something better.
MedSchool Copilot organizes the entire cycle into three phases with a structured checklist, smart calendar, and priority dashboard that shows you exactly what to work on next. The platform includes:
- Foundations: Guided reflection prompts that help you discover your narrative before you start writing.
- Story Bank: A place to capture, organize, and analyze your experiences so the best material surfaces when you need it.
- Work & Activities Assistant: Draft, edit, and organize all 15 AMCAS entries with AI support and drag-and-drop ordering.
- Personal Statement Editor: Multi-draft writing with version history, AI feedback, and a distraction-free focus mode.
- Secondary Essay Dashboard: Track prompts, deadlines, and completion status across every school on your list.
- School Matching AI: Input your stats and experiences, get a balanced reach/target/safety list based on admitted student data.
- Mock Interview System: Practice traditional and MMI formats with voice AI, get scored feedback, and track your improvement.
- Competency Analytics: See how your experiences map to the 15 AAMC Core Competencies and identify gaps before admissions committees do.
Who We Are
Peter Bittner is the CEO and founder of MedSchool Copilot. He co-founded The Upgrade AI and MindStudio Academy, lectures at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism, and has had work featured in the New York Times, CNN, Bloomberg, and Reuters. He built MedSchool Copilot because he saw how the admissions process overwhelms talented applicants who lack access to expensive consulting services.
Michael Rubsamen is our Medical Education Advisor. He is an MD/MPH candidate at Tulane University School of Medicine with a BA in Philosophy from Whitman College and post-baccalaureate work at Case Western Reserve University. His background as a county fireman and EMT gives him firsthand understanding of both the clinical world and the application process that leads to it.
Our team also includes experienced engineers, designers, and application strategy advisors who have collectively guided hundreds of applicants through the admissions cycle.
Why We Built This
Traditional admissions consulting costs $3,000 to $10,000 or more. That prices out the majority of applicants, especially first-generation students and those from underrepresented backgrounds. We believe every applicant deserves structured guidance, clear deadlines, and writing support that helps them sound like the best version of themselves.
MedSchool Copilot starts free and scales to $79/month for full AI access. For applicants who want human expert review, our hybrid plans include essay reviews from physicians and admissions committee members.
